POINT LOOKOUT, MO. – Bellevue University has been selected as the favorite to win the 2008 MCAC Baseball Championship according to the MCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Sunday (Feb. 3).
Bellevue, which captured the MCAC Regular Season Championship last season, posted a 47-15 overall record (19-3 MCAC) in 2007. The Bruins, who are ranked fourth in the 2008 NAIA National Preseason Top 25, advanced to the 2007 NAIA World Series last May in Lewiston, Idaho.
Park University earned the No. 2 position in the preseason rankings after compiling a 28-21 overall and a 15-9 conference record last season, advancing to the 2007 NAIA Region IV Tournament.
York College was picked third by the league coaches after the Panthers made a trip to the Region IV Tournament last season. In 2007, York owned a 31-25 overall record (13-9 MCAC).
Rounding out the poll are the College of the Ozarks (4th), Peru State College (5th), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (6th) and Central Christian College (7th).
