Freshman guard Steve Briggs of Oklahoma Wesleyan University has been named MCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 3.
Briggs, a native of Duncanville, Texas, averaged 23.7 points, 3.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game last week in helping the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 record. In an 81-66 win at Haskell Indian Nations University on Friday, he had 36 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds. For the week, Briggs was 16-of-28 from three-point range, including a 9-for-12 performance vs. Haskell.
Oklahoma Wesleyan, which is ranked 20th nationally, is 19-4 overall and 4-2 in MCAC play this season.
