POINT LOOKOUT, MO. - Bellevue University has been picked as the favorite to win the 2010 MCAC Women's Volleyball Championship according to the MCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released Monday (Aug. 23).
The Bruins, who are ranked No. 17 in NAIA Preseason Top 25, posted a 29-10 overall record in 2009, including a perfect 14-0 conference record to capture the MCAC regular season title. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in 2009 for the third consecutive season.
College of the Ozarks compiled a 26-11 overall (12-2 MCAC) record last season to earn the No. 2 position in the preseason league rankings. The Bobcats, who received votes in the 2010 national preseason poll, qualified for the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round in 2009 by defeating Bellevue in the MCAC Tournament Final, 3-0.
College of Saint Mary earned the No. 3 position in the conference coaches' poll. The Flames recorded a 17-19 overall (9-5 MCAC) record a year ago.
Rounding out the preseason poll are Peru State College (4), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (5), Haskell Indian Nations University (6), York College (7), Central Christian College (8) and Southwestern Christian University (9).
